What are the rules on burning in the Town of Trenton?
- Burning of non-toxic items (leaves, twigs) is allowed in the Town of Trenton. It is advised to call the Newburg Fire Department in advance to ask about the burning danger level and to put the Department on notice about large burns.
- Burning of toxic items (plastic, rubber, construction debris and the like) is not allowed in the Town. Burning toxic items produces a variety of hazardous and toxic air pollutants, including carcinogens such as arsenic, benzene, and formaldehyde.
- Please be cautious when burning. Choose a location away from structures and trees that can catch fire. Also, be aware of wind direction and strength when burning.
