Recycling & Garbage Information

The Town of Trenton is now a Registered E-Waste Collector! See list of accepted items, which can be brought to the Town Hall during regular recycling hours (see below).

The Town Hall Yard is open twice a month, excluding holidays for disposal of brush, yard waste, waste oil, batteries, metal goods, AND NOW ELECTRONIC WASTE.:
--Second Saturday of every month from 8:00 AM-noon (ALL YEAR LONG)
--Fourth Thursday of every month from 3:00 - 7:00 PM (FROM MARCH - OCTOBER)
Located at 1071 State Highway 33E. Note that yard waste must be fully compostable. If brought in plastic bags, they must be emptied into the dumpster. Large compostable yard waste bags are available for purchase at various retail establishments.

Call Harter's directly for any issues with your curbside collection. Or use the Resident Portal. If you would like a smaller cart, contact Harter's to request the exchange.

Each residence qualifies for one trash and one recycling cart, along with the weekly (trash) and bi-weekly (recycling) curbside collection. The charge for this service is added to the property tax bill for the services rendered that year.

Additional trash or recycling services are available by contracting directly with Harter's. Charges for the ADDITIONAL collection service is billed in advance for a year. Currently, the costs are as follows:

  • Trash: $120 plus $35 cart delivery and removal fee
  • Recycling: $75 plus $35 cart delivery and removal fee

Harter's approves use of the SafeWaste Push Clip to keep lids secure until the cart is tipped into the truck.

Large/bulky items that do not fit in your cart can be taken to the GFL transfer station at 803 N River Rd. Call GFL at 262.334.5618 to inquire about current pricing, which is based on weight (minimum charge applies).

  • Tuesday collection: Hwy 33, North of Hwy 33, Riverview Dr, Trenton on the River (River Ct), Scenic Dr
  • Wednesday collection: All other south of Hwy 33

Certain Federal Holidays will affect trash and recycling pick up. At those times, the collection schedule will shift by one day. If the holiday falls on a Monday or Tuesday, the Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday and the Wednesday collection will occur on Thursday. If the holiday falls on a Wednesday, the Tuesday collection will occur as usual on Tuesday and the Wednesday collection will occur on Thursday. Please review the calendar above for specific dates. However, when in doubt, PUT IT OUT.

How to Safely Dispose of Used Cooking Oil

If you have issues with your curbside collection, including cart repairs, please contact Harter's Lakeside Disposal (see above). Alternatively, contact the Town of Trenton at 262.675.6009 x102 or email recycling@townoftrenton.wi.gov to report your concern. Or, connect to the Resident Portal to report a concern (this is a new feature where you can track your concerns).

Cart repair/replacement services should be completed on the next regular collection day.
